Sicklings

What house full of sicklings! First Randy got a pretty bad fever and was in bed for two days. Then Grandma and Grandpa got it. I thought I had escaped it and was finally getting over my congestion that I had for two weeks when I woke up with my throat feeling a little scratchy. By the end of the day my throat was swollen and I felt yucky! It got so bad last night that I had a panic attack because I thought my throat was going to get so swollen it would close up! That is the worst feeling in the entire world. So here we are......sick as dogs! I guess we were lucky enough to be well the day we went up to the Draper Temple open house. That was a blessing. Let me just say it was a very beautiful Temple!

Cousins

Rayden and Cameron had so much fun playing together! Rayden followed Cam around everywhere he went and did everything that Cam did. They even had matching P.J.'s! Too bad we don't live a little bit closer so they could play more often but then I think they would really get sick of each other. Rayden just looks up to his cousin so much and can't wait until we visit again!

Going Home

Well I have been having a great time visiting the family but now it's time to get back to the old routine and go home. It's actually a good thing because I've been staying up way too late at night playing nerts and Life and I have totally gotten my children off their schedule. It will take me atleast a week to get them back into routine. I am a firm believer in routine and I think children need to have structure or else all is lost!!! Although I'm not fantastic at keeping a tight schedule, I atleast try to have a little bit of structure. Anyway, Rayden has had lots of fun this last week playing with cousins. One night he had a sleepover with his cousin and they sat in their sleeping bags and ate popcorn and chocolate milk and watched movies! They also had so much fun playing in the snow. Of course our trip would not be complete without the regular stop to Chuck E. Cheese's! Rayden absolutely loves that place! Thank heavens they don't have one close to our house or else I would be broke! A fun time was had by all but now I got to go pack!

Wishing I was somewhere WARM!

Have you looked outside recently? If you are anywhere in Northern Utah then don't!!! It is too depressing. I think I will just stay inside all day today and drink Hot Cocoa because it is such a blizzard out there! So I'm visiting my mom right now and let's just say that it really is hard to get a fussy baby to take naps in a house full of kids! Luckily the kids aren't here yet this morning so maybe he will atleast get his morning nap.

So, happy Valentines Day everyone!! I was lucky enough to actually go on a date with my husband last night. However, we had to take our baby and he was so fussy! He just screamed the whole time unless someone stood up and held him. We went to Tepanyaki and that is not the best restaurant to be where you have to stand and hold your baby to eat. Let's just say poor Randy couldn't really enjoy the entertainment and atmosphere of the restaurant because he was stuck holding the screamer. We did have some good food all around and enjoyed the sushi very much! It was fun to go out and spend some time together. Anyway, I hope all you have a wonderful Valentines Day and try not to eat too much chocolate!

Update

I have had a hard time posting things this new year. I think I just get so used to reading everyone else's blog posts that are just so interesting and cute and I just don't think I have anything blog worthy to post. So I guess I'll just update you on how our little family is doing so far this year. I did good on most of my new year resolutions for about two weeks and then it all went down hill. But it's never too late to try again! Rayden is really enjoying preschool. He asks me every morning when he wakes up which school he is going to. He actually goes to 2 different schools because of his speech therapy. It was so sad when he was sick for three days and couldn't go. Finally when he was feeling better he woke up and said "Ya I can go to school today!" It was so sad to have to tell him that is was Saturday. He was heartbroken. It makes me feel good to know that he loves school. I guess I better enjoy it now because I know the day will come that he will probably fake sick to stay home.

Ryker is crawling sooooo much. He is even pulling himself up on the brick fireplace. It is pretty scary when he falls and hits his head but he won't stay away from it! I guess it doesn't hurt too bad. He also is becoming so independent! He already wants to feed himself! He hits the spoon out of my hand and just wants to pick up the food with his fingers. I guess I better transition to all finger foods for him!

Randy is really enjoying work. He is spending his days off from work fixing up his parents rental home. He is really excited about it and loves to watch it transform as he fixes it. He likes it so much that he is thinking about our next home being an old "fixer upper". I'm not thrilled at all about the idea so I think I'll do my best to discourage that idea. I think he should spend the time getting his master's degree instead of worrying about fixing up old houses. Luckily I think I still have some time to persuade him.

As for me, I have been spending a lot of my time getting caught up on years of scrapbooking. I just love doing digital scrapbooking. It is so much faster and easier for me. I'll have to post a few of my favorite pages one of these days. I also have been spending a lot of time with Rayden teaching him how to add and subtract and cut and color. We have so much fun together! That is one New Year resolution that I am doing good with. I wanted to spend more time teaching and I think I'm doing an okay job. I wish I could teach him how to read but I just don't know how to start and I just get discouraged! Randy and I want to hold him back from kindergarten a year, so I think I might try and homeschool him for a year if he can't do preschool at the district again. If anyone has any reading ideas please let me know!!!
